Server Technology to exhibit at Upcoming Data Centre World.

The Data Centre World will be held on February 24th-25th in London, England. Data Centre World Conference & Expo is the UK's largest gathering of professionals responsible for designing, commissioning and running a data centre or server room.

This free 2 day conference includes over 30 sessions. These free sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Energy efficiency
  • Virtualisation, Design
  • Build or outsource
  • Proximity Hosting
  • Disaster recovery
  • Infrastructure

NEW Sentry POPS (Per Outlet Power Sensing) and SPM Sentry Power Manager

To reduce power consumption and maximize each cabinet installation, more information is needed, per device, per application, per cabinet, per groups of cabinets and per facility. The ability to monitor the power load of an individual outlet within a Cabinet Power Distribution Unit (PDU) opens the door for significant opportunities to monitor and maximize efficiency, plan for future installations, determine the best location to allocate additional cooling resources and identify idle devices that are candidates for virtualization or to be shut down.

SPM combined with POPS allows power monitoring at the outlet level. This provides the Data Center Manager kW and kW-h information per device, groups of devices (application) an individual PDU or cabinet. Utilizing SPM's exclusive "clustering" technology allows power monitoring across individual IP addresses providing kW and kW-h power information across multiple cabinets or the whole data center.

SPM provides a central interface capable of managing and monitoring thousands of Sentry Cabinet Power Distribution Units (PDU's) in multiple locations for conditions including:

  • Power, temperature and humidity monitoring.
  • Monitor current voltage, power(kW), apparent power, crest factor and power factor.
  • Real time status and alarm notifications viewed by their status.
  • Trending of critical parameters such as temperature, humidity, in-feed load, in-feed power, system watts/unit area, kW, kW Hr, and system total power.
  • Power information for the user to create custom graphs based on any one or all of these parameters.

This information can be used to calculate "green" power efficiency metrics like PUE and DCiE offered by The Green Grid.  Beyond calculating efficiency metrics this technology also provides the ability to bill for power usage based on an individual outlet, device, groups of devices (application), cabinet, groups of cabinets or the whole location.

Upcoming Trade Shows

Server Technology will be exhibiting at additional domestic and international industry shows in 2009.  These shows are an excellent opportunity to discuss your data center goals and objectives with our Server Technology representatives.
