Sentry Power Manager Efficiency Webinar

Server Technology Sentry Power Manager Webinar, Power Monitoring Increases Data Center Efficiency -April 9, 2009

Speakers: Calvin Nicholson - Director, Product Marketing
Server Technology

This webinar provided power monitoring solutions with the understanding that "You cannot improve something that you are not measuring".

Learn how to:
- Determine efficiency using metrics like PUE and DCiE
- Identify comatose or zombie servers
- Determine kW-h for billing by server, application, cabinet or rows of cabinets
- Identify cabinets where power capacity is available
- Measure power (kW and kW-h) at Level 3 locations
- Create trends on power, environmentals and other parameters

Webinar Questions & Answers

1. What is the accuracy of the device level monitoring with your Sentry Switched POPS technology?
Plus or minus 2%

2. Which 3rd management or BMS systems do you integrate with?
We can integrate with any system available on the market today, please contact us with the system information that you are using and we can discuss.

3. Are there any restrictions on the cabinet pdu devices that can connect to SPM?
No any of our intelligent products (Smart, Switched to POPS) can connect to SPM.

4. You mentioned measuring at the device but also measuring at the in-feed to the cabinet pdu, can in-feed power information be rolled up per rows of cabinets or per facility?
Yes just as we can roll up device information we can also roll up in-feed power information using SPM.

5. When trying to identify zombie servers the power threshold for each type of servers is different, how do you deal with this?
The report can be run by each server type within you organization.

6. How will billing for power drive efficiency within my organization?
In an enterprise data center if departments are billed back for the power that they use within the facility they will more closely watch the number of devices installed and how those assets are used.

7. I don't want or need another system/appliance within my organization.
The SPM appliance takes data and converts it into useful information that can be integrated into any BMS or other system. The user GUI can sit in the background and does not have to be used.
